PLAINS LEOPARD FROG

They are found throughout the Northern half of Missouri, North of the Missouri River. Also found along the extreme Eastern edge of Missouri to the Bootheel.
The background color is tan, or greenish-tan. They are covered in irregular circular spots, that will not be ringed in white. There will be a white line along the jawbone. Frequently there is a spot located on the face just down from the eyes and above the nostrils. Not all specimens have this spot.
Length: 2- 3 ¾ inches
They are found in almost all aquatic habitats within their range, including ponds, lakes
and rivers. Usually a grassland species that heads upland in times f excessive rain.
